An essential module for any timing related patches. The CLK divider uses the CD4060 ripple-carry binary counter with an internal oscillator. In less technical terms it does what it says on the box, it generates a 0-5V clock signal which is then divided down into several useful and synchronized outputs.

The switch for the speed selects between frequency’s well into the audio range to frequency’s as low as once every ten minutes or so.

The input selector switch lets you switch between the internal oscillator or any external trigger signal.

Patch ideas:

  • The most basic use is as a system clock, allowing you to quickly have a lot of different triggers to use with sequencers, gates, envelopes or whatever else you can think of.
  • Use the binary outputs with shift registers or the R2R DAC for some quick and easy patterns and control voltages.
  • Using different patterns on the input, for example a gate signal from a sequencer allows you to quickly make variations while still staying in the same general rhythm.
  • Use a pseudo random input and divide it down to some very long patterns for those magical hands off soundscapes.
